Funeral Services for Rosa Acosta, 74, will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Viewing will be held from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home, with Rosary at 6:00 pm. 

Rosa graduated from Wellman High School in 1967 and then continued on to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University. Rosa’s career spanned 34 years as a teacher at Colonial Heights Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. She had a passion for education and believed in the power of knowledge to shape young minds.

Outside of her profession, Rosa was deeply devoted to her family, especially her husband Edward Acosta, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Their love and partnership were an inspiration to all who knew them, and their bond will continue to be celebrated and treasured.

Rosa was proud of her children and grandchildren. She found joy in supporting her grandkids at all of their school events. She never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, beaming with pride at their accomplishments.

Rosa's deep faith was an integral part of her life, and she was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. For many years, she served as the president of the Altar Society, embodying her commitment to her church community and her unwavering devotion to her faith.

Rosa is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Oralia Arrezola; sisters, Beatrice Arrezola and Bernice Riojas; brothers, Robert Arrezola and Wallie Arrezola.

Rosa is survived by her husband, Edward Acosta; children, Cindy Acosta and partner Linda Curiel of Lubbock, TX and Veronica Davy and husband Robert of Friendswood, TX; sisters, Lilley Glass and husband Lloyd of Seminole, TX, Linda Pompa and husband Henry of Levelland, TX, Bertha Walpole and husband Bill of Wadmallow Island, SC; brothers, Lewis Arrezola of Brownfield, TX, Albert Arrezola of Brownfield, TX, Marty Arrezola and wife Wendi of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Mallory Davy of Friendswood, TX, Gabriella Davy of Friendswood, TX, and Kason Curiel-Acosta of Lubbock, TX.
