Funeral Service for Ruben Ray Acosta will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home, with Rosary at 6:00 pm.

Ruben, affectionately known as “Cricket," was born on July 3, 1975, to Jose Juan and Paula Gonzalez Acosta in Prosser, WA. He passed away on May 7, 2025, at the age of 49.

Ruben was a beloved son, faithful brother, dedicated father, and adoring grandfather. As a "Momma's Boy," he carried an unwavering love for his family, which was evident in every gathering. He had a unique ability to fill a room with joy, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. Ruben’s laughter was infectious, and his spirit brought warmth to the hearts of those around him.

In addition to being a devoted family man, Ruben was a passionate fan of the Washington Redskins, and his weekends were often spent watching games or playing pool with friends. He loved to cook, and his famous chicken tacos became a cherished staple during family get-togethers. He enjoyed entertaining his loved ones with his singing and dancing, creating memories that will linger in their hearts forever.

Ruben was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gonzalo and Emma Gonzalez; paternal grandparents, Luis and Guadalupe Miranda; and his older brother, Jose Juan Acosta Jr. He is survived by his parents, Jose Juan and Paula Acosta; 2 sons with Linda Bazan, Hunter Jade Acosta (Jynel), and Landon Anakien Acosta (Aleah), and a son and daughter with Julie Barnhart, Samuel Luke Acosta and daughter, Andelina Acosta; 3 grandchildren, Xamari Mason Acosta, Kashtyn Joe Acosta, and soon-to-arrive, Baby Acosta; 2 brothers, Rene Acosta (Stephanie) and Jesse Acosta (Angelica); sister, Tracy Ann Acosta-Torres (Angel); nephews and nieces, Andrew Rene Acosta, Ryan Michael Acosta, Madison Nicole Acosta, Lydia Yvette Rodriguez (Austin), Noah Rodriguez, JaShawn Acosta-Finney, Valentina Alaia Torres, and Jesse Alexander Acosta; and numerous extended family members.
