Memorial Service for Ruby Eulalia Copeland will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ, 1701 Quaker Ave, in Lubbock. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Eulalia was born on November 29, 1938, to Leonard and Loleta Ware in Lubbock, TX. She passed away on September 21, 2025, at the age of 86 in Lewisville, TX.
Eulalia spent her formative years in various towns in west Texas and eastern New Mexico, graduating from high school in Hobbs, New Mexico. Eulalia's faith in Christ was the most important thing to her, and she became a member of the Church of Christ at a young age and was a shining example of Christian love and service throughout her life.
On January 1, 1959, Eulalia, who lived in Big Springs, TX, received a letter from Jewel Kelcie Copeland from Phoenix, AZ. For the next 6 months, they exchanged letters through the mail and were married on June 1, 1959. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before Jewel's passing on September 20, 2014. During that time, they raised 3 generations of children. After Jewel’s passing, she donated their home to facilitate the 4th generation of Copeland children to be raised under that roof.
Eulalia was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to her family. She found joy in caregiving and nurturing those around her. With a servant's heart, she was always eager to help others in need.
Eulalia's creativity flourished through her love for sewing and quilting, crafting treasures that warmed the hearts and homes of family and friends alike.
Eulalia was a fighter and to her, a health crisis was only a challenge. A diabetes diagnosis led to a passion for exercise, and she became an aerobics instructor for the Seniors aerobics class at BRMC in Brownfield. A cancer diagnosis in 2000 estimated she had only 2 months to live. She prayed for 8 more years to raise her grandson, but God blessed her with 25 more years. There is no doubt that she is hearing the words “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Eulalia was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel Copeland; parents, Leonard and Loleta Ware; son, Layne Copeland; and a sister, Velma Kirk. She is survived by her daughter, Angie Pitts (Tom) of Lewisville; 2 sons, Matthew Copeland of Gilbert, AZ, and Steven Copeland (Rachelyn) of Brownfield; sister, Leta Smith (Ernest); cousin, Noma Byrne; 7 grandchildren, including Layne's children: Rebekah and Steven, Angie's children: Jaron, Christel, Tymon and Zachary, and Matthew's son: Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren, Michael, Emily, Makayla, Brynley, Ellie, Jack, Reese, Isa, Alanna, Misty, Lucas, Addison, Benjamin, Jayden, and Sawyer; a great-great-grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caleb's Closet (calebscloset.org).
