Shirley Jean Ribble

July 25, 1935 — February 3, 2020

Graveside services for Shirley Jean Ribble will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the Terry County Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm on Friday, February 7, 2020, at Brownfield Funeral Home, and the family will receive guests there from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm that evening.

Shirley Jean Ribble, 84, of Garland, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020, following a brief illness.

She was born to the late Joseph and Lula Nell Murphy in Crowell, Texas, and grew up in Quanah, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She married the late H.D. (Tony) Ribble in 1952 and moved to Brownfield in 1971 when he was transferred there with General Telephone Company. Shirley was a long-time employee of Brownfield Regional Medical Center, retiring as the Business Office Manager in 1996.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Lou Loudermilk of Sun City, Arizona; four children: Gerry (Elizabeth) Ribble of Haslet, Texas; Sheryl (Kurt) Weber of Dallas, Texas; Kathy (Tony Gibbs) of Garland, Texas; and Joe (Santa) Ribble of Forney, Texas. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lula Nell Murphy; her brothers, Warren Murphy and Donald Murphy; her husband, Tony Ribble; one son, Gene Ribble; and one grandson, Austin Cox.
