A funeral service to celebrate Willa Margart Heartsill will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel, with her son Shawn Brannan officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Willa was born on April 11, 1945, in Uvalde, Texas, to Buck and Mary Sue Cunningham. She, passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 80. She leaves behind a legacy woven with creativity, and the unyielding spirit of a true Texan. Willa was a woman of endless talents and pursuits. Willa found delight in the simple act of creation. She poured her heart into crafting beautiful pieces and delighted in sharing her work at markets, where her stall was always the hub of conversation and community.
An avid teacher at heart, she ignited passions in others by sharing her knowledge of languages and the timeless tales of Greek mythology. As a true innovative spirit, Willa was never without a remodeling project in her homes and they were constant canvases of transformation.
Willa was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Buck and Mary Sue Cunningham; her sister, Ruth Standifer; and her brother, Pres Cunningham.
Survivors include her devoted husband of many years, R. J. Heartsill; her sons, Judson Heartsill and his wife, Christine, Shawn Brannan and his wife, Angie; her cherished grandchildren, Angus, Lydia Heartsill, Stephan Brannan and his wife, Lindsey, and Morgan Brannan.
She will be deeply missed, but her crafts, her wisdom, and her unbreakable love for life will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
